Adhyāya 287 — Janaka’s Inquiry on Śreyas, Abhayadāna, and Asaṅga

एतस्मात् कारणाच्छेय: कलिलं प्रतिभाति मे । ब्रवीतु भगवांस्तन्मे उपसन्नोडस्म्यधीहि भो:
etasmāt kāraṇāc chreyaḥ kalilaṁ pratibhāti me | bravītu bhagavāṁs tan me upasanno 'smy adhīhi bhoḥ ||
Bhīṣma nói: “Vì lẽ ấy, bản tính chân thật của điều ‘tối thiện’ (śreyas) đối với ta dường như bị màn nghi hoặc và rối ren che phủ. Vậy nên, bậc Đáng Tôn, xin hãy truyền dạy cho ta giáo pháp ấy. Ta đã đến nương tựa nơi Ngài—kính xin bậc tôn nghiêm chỉ dạy, khiến ta thấu hiểu con đường dẫn đến thiện ích tối thượng.”
