कथमेष महाप्राज्ञ ज्वरः प्रादुर्बभी कुतः । ज्वरोत्पत्तिं निपुणत: श्रोतुमिच्छाम्यहं प्रभो,महामते! प्रभो! यह ज्वर कैसे और कहाँसे उत्पन्न हुआ? मैं ज्वरकी उत्पत्तिका प्रसंग भलीभाँति सुनना चाहता हूँ
Yudhiṣṭhira uvāca: katham eṣa mahāprājña jvaraḥ prādurbabhūva kutaḥ | jvarotpattiṁ nipuṇataḥ śrotum icchāmy ahaṁ prabho, mahāmate ||
Yudhiṣṭhira thưa: “Bậc đại trí, cơn sốt ấy đã hiển lộ như thế nào, và phát sinh từ đâu? Muôn tâu Chúa thượng, bậc cao tâm, con muốn được nghe tường tận, thật tinh xác, về duyên khởi của cơn sốt.”
युधिषछ्िर उवाच
The verse models disciplined inquiry: before judging or reacting to suffering (here, ‘fever’), one should seek its true origin and causal chain, asking for a careful, detailed explanation from a competent authority.
In a teacher–disciple style exchange within Śānti Parva, Yudhiṣṭhira respectfully questions a wise interlocutor about how ‘Jvara’ arose and requests a thorough account of its genesis, setting up an explanatory discourse.
