नारद-समङ्ग-संवादः — The Nārada–Samaṅga Dialogue on Fearlessness and Equanimity

कोई भी वस्तु क्यों न हो, जब उसके प्रति ममता कर ली जाती है--वह वस्तु अपनी मान ली जाती है, तब नष्ट होनेपर वही संतापका कारण बन जाती है ।।

na kāmān anuruddho ’to duḥkhaṁ kāmeṣu vai ratiḥ | prāptārtham upayuñjīta dharme kāmān visṛjayet ||

Bhishma dạy rằng bám víu vào các đối tượng giác quan chỉ làm tăng thêm sầu khổ: sự say đắm khoái lạc tự nó đã là một dạng khổ. Vì thế, chớ cố chấp theo đuổi việc làm cho dục vọng và hưởng thụ ngày càng lớn. Bất cứ của cải hay phương tiện nào có được, hãy dùng để phụng sự dharma; còn những lạc thú buông thả thì phải dứt bỏ hoàn toàn.
