Yudhiṣṭhira’s Remorse and Vyāsa’s Teaching on Impermanence (Śoka-nivāraṇa)

सुखं दुःखान्तमालस्यं दाक्ष्यं दुः:खं सुखोदयम्‌ । भूति: श्रीद्वीर्धृति: कीर्तिर्देक्षे वसति नालसे

sukhaṁ duḥkhāntam ālasyaṁ dākṣyaṁ duḥkhaṁ sukhodayam | bhūtiḥ śrīr dhṛtiḥ kīrtir dakṣe vasati nālase ||

Vyāsa nói: Sự lười biếng tưởng như êm ái, nhưng rốt cuộc kết thúc trong khổ đau; sự tinh cần khéo léo tưởng như nhọc nhằn, nhưng từ đó hạnh phúc sinh ra. Phú quý, vận may, lòng hổ thẹn, sự kiên định và danh tiếng chỉ trú nơi người có năng lực và siêng năng—chứ không ở kẻ lười.
