Yudhiṣṭhira uvāca:

Yathā buddhyā mahīpālo bhraṣṭaśrī vicaren mahīm |

Kāladaṇḍa-viniṣpiṣṭas tan me brūhi pitāmaha ||

Yudhiṣṭhira thưa: “Thưa ông nội, xin hãy nói cho con biết: một vị vua, khi đã mất hết phú quý và vinh quang đế vương, làm sao vẫn có thể lang thang trên mặt đất với trí hiểu đúng đắn—khi đã bị cây gậy của Thời gian nghiền nát?”
