हेतुवादान् प्रवदिता वक्ता संसत्सु हेतुमत् । आक्रोष्टा चाभिवक्ता च ब्रह्म॒वाक्येषु च द्विजान्
hetuvādān pravaditā vaktā saṃsatsu hetumat | ākroṣṭā cābhivaktā ca brahmavākyeṣu ca dvijān |
Bhīṣma nói: Trong các hội chúng, ta thường nêu thuyết lý luận, lời lẽ lúc nào cũng đầy cớ lý và tranh biện. Khi các vị Bà-la-môn học giả kính cẩn suy niệm những lời Veda thiêng liêng, ta lại xông vào công kích, mắng nhiếc và phản bác họ, chỉ để phô bày thứ logic hiếu thắng của mình.
