मृत्यु-काल-प्रबोधनम् (Instruction on Mortality, Time, and Truth) — Mahābhārata, Śānti-parva 169

लुब्ध: क्रूरस्त्यक्तरर्मा निकृति: शठ एव च | क्षुद्र पापसमाचार: सर्वशड्की तथालस:

lubdhaḥ krūraḥ tyaktadharmo nikṛtiḥ śaṭha eva ca | kṣudraḥ pāpasamācāraḥ sarvaśaṅkī tathālasaḥ ||

Bhishma nói: “Kẻ tham lam và tàn bạo, đã bỏ dharma, gian trá và phản trắc; lòng dạ nhỏ nhen, quen thói hành ác, nghi kỵ mọi người và lười biếng—kẻ ấy không đáng để kết minh. Người luôn rình mò tìm lỗi của kẻ khác cũng không xứng để lập giao ước. Nay ta sẽ nói về những người đáng để kết minh—hãy lắng nghe.”
