Adhyāya 159 — Dāna–Dakṣiṇā, Āpaddharma Measures, and Prāyaścitta Classifications

न धनार्थ यशो<र्थ वा धर्मस्तेषां युधिष्ठिर । अवश्यं कार्य इत्येव शरीरस्य क्रियास्तथा

na dhanārthaṃ yaśo'rthaṃ vā dharmas teṣāṃ yudhiṣṭhira | avaśyaṃ kārya ityeva śarīrasya kriyās tathā ||

Bhīṣma nói: Hỡi Yudhiṣṭhira, việc hành trì dharma của họ không nhằm gom góp tài sản hay cầu danh tiếng. Họ hành động chỉ vì xác tín rằng dharma phải được thực hiện như một bổn phận không thể tránh; và những việc cần thiết của thân thể cũng làm như vậy, đơn giản vì đó là điều phải làm.
