राजदण्डभयादेके पापा: पापं न कुर्वते । यमदण्डभयादेके परलोकभयादपि

Transliteration

rājadaṇḍabhayād eke pāpāḥ pāpaṃ na kurvate | yamadaṇḍabhayād eke paralokabhayād api |

Translation

Arjuna thưa: “Có kẻ tội lỗi không dám làm ác vì sợ vương trượng; có kẻ vì sợ cây gậy của Yama; lại có kẻ vì sợ đời sau. Đó là lẽ tự nhiên của thế gian—bởi vậy muôn sự đều đứng vững trên daṇḍa, như một sức mạnh điều tiết và răn giữ.”
