Kośa, Bala, and Maryādā: Treasury, Capacity, and Enforceable Limits (कोश-बल-मर्यादा)

धर्म प्राप्य न्यायवृत्ति न बलीयान्‌ न विन्दति । यस्माद्‌ बलस्योपपत्तिरेकान्तेन न विद्यते

dharmaṁ prāpya nyāyavṛttiṁ na balīyān na vindati | yasmād balasyopapattir ekāntena na vidyate ||

Bhīṣma nói: “Dẫu đạt đến dharma, kẻ yếu vẫn chưa chắc có được kế sinh nhai hoàn toàn hợp với công lý. Bởi chỉ nhờ hành dharma mà được sức mạnh thì không thể bảo đảm tuyệt đối. Vì vậy, trong lúc khốn cùng, điều vốn là adharma đôi khi lại được gọi là ‘dharma’ như một sự nới phép vì cấp bách. Nhưng bậc trí giả vẫn cho rằng: dù trong tai nạn, hành vi trái dharma vẫn là adharma.”
