बालो>प्यबाल: स्थविरो रिपुर्य: सदा प्रमत्तं पुरुषं निहन्यात् | कालेनान्यस्तस्य मूलं हरेत कालज्ञाता पार्थिवानां वरिष्ठ:
bālo ’py abālaḥ sthaviro ripur yaḥ sadā pramattaṃ puruṣaṃ nihanyāt | kālenānyas tasya mūlaṃ haret kālajñātā pārthivānāṃ variṣṭhaḥ ||
Bhishma nói: Dù kẻ thù chỉ là một đứa trẻ—hay không phải trẻ, dù trẻ hay già—cũng có thể diệt kẻ luôn lơ là. Và một đối thủ khác, được thời cơ trợ lực, có thể nhổ bật một vị vua tận gốc. Vì vậy, trong hàng quân vương, người hiểu Thời và hành động đúng lúc mới là bậc tối thượng.
