Gratitude, Discernment, and the Escalation of Power (Śvā–Dvipī–Vyāghra–Nāga–Siṃha–Śarabha Itihāsa)
तथा कुरु महाबाहो सर्वज्ञस्त्वं न संशय: । 'भगवन्! यह चीता कुत्तोंका शत्रु है और मुझे मार डालना चाहता है। महामुने! महाबाहो! आप ऐसा करें
tathā kuru mahābāho sarvajñas tvaṃ na saṃśayaḥ |
Bhīṣma nói: “Vậy hãy hành động như thế, hỡi bậc đại dũng (mahā-bāhu). Ngài là bậc toàn tri—điều ấy không còn nghi ngờ.” Trong mạch chuyện, đây là lời khẩn cầu được che chở bằng lòng từ: người thưa gửi nương vào sự minh triết toàn tri của bậc hiền thánh, xin một phương cách để dập tắt nỗi sợ trước loài thú dữ đang đe dọa, coi đó như phép thử của lòng nhân và hành động đúng đắn đối với kẻ yếu thế.
