उपायधर्म-सेनायोगः
Upāya-dharma and Senāyoga: Expedient Ethics & Army Deployment
दशाधिपतय: कार्या: शताधिपतयस्तथा । ततः सहस्राधिपतिं कुर्याच्छूरमतन्द्रितम्
daśādhipatayaḥ kāryāḥ śatādhipatayas tathā | tataḥ sahasrādhipatiṁ kuryāc chūram atandritam ||
Bhishma nói: “Hãy đặt người chỉ huy mười người, cũng vậy đặt người chỉ huy một trăm. Rồi sau đó, hãy cử một dũng sĩ can trường và tỉnh thức, không lười nhác, làm thống lĩnh một nghìn.” Trong lời khuyên về trị quốc và hộ quốc này, tổ chức quân đội có kỷ luật được xem là bổn phận theo dharma của bậc quân vương—để bảo đảm trật tự, trách nhiệm và sự sẵn sàng, chứ không phải hỗn loạn hay lơ là.
