सर्वे स्वर्गतिमिच्छन्ति सुयुद्धेनातिमन्यव: । क्षोभयेयुरनीकानि सागरं मकरा यथा
sarve svargatim icchanti suyuddhenātimanyavaḥ | kṣobhayeyur anīkāni sāgaraṃ makarā yathā ||
Bhīṣma nói: Tất cả những kṣatriya cao quý, kiêu hãnh và dũng mãnh, đều khát vọng đạt cõi trời nhờ một trận chiến chính nghĩa. Vì thế, như loài makara khuấy động biển cả, họ xông thẳng vào đội hình của địch, làm quân trận rối loạn—bị thúc đẩy bởi cơn giận, chí hướng và đạo lý chiến binh coi giao tranh can trường là con đường đến số mệnh cao cả.
