ऋषिसमागमः — युधिष्ठिरस्य शोकवर्णनम्

अस्माकं शमकामा वै त्वं च पुत्रो ममेत्यथ । पृथाया न कृत: कामस्तेन चापि महात्मना,सुननेमें आया है कि मेरी माता कुन्ती हमलोगोंमें संधि करानेकी इच्छासे उनके पास गयी थीं और उन्हें बताया था कि “तुम मेरे पुत्र हो।” परन्तु महामनस्वी कर्णने माता कुन्तीकी यह इच्छा पूरी नहीं की
asmākaṃ śamakāmā vai tvaṃ ca putro mamety atha | pṛthāyā na kṛtaḥ kāmas tena cāpi mahātmanā ||
Yudhiṣṭhira nói: “Mẫu thân Pṛthā (Kuntī) của chúng ta, khát khao hòa giải, đã đến gặp chàng và nói: ‘Con cũng là con trai của mẹ.’ Nhưng Karṇa, bậc đại hồn, đã không làm trọn điều Pṛthā mong ước.”
