वार्तिकांश्षाब्रवीद् राजा पुत्रस्ते सत्यविक्रम:
sañjaya uvāca |
vārtikāṁś cābravīd rājā putras te satyavikramaḥ |
pṛṣṭhato 'nugamiṣyāmi sārthahīno yathādhvagaḥ ||
Sañjaya nói: Bấy giờ nhà vua—con trai của ngài, kiên định trong chân dũng—cất lời rằng: “Ta sẽ theo sau họ, như kẻ lữ hành bị bỏ lại khi đã mất đoàn lữ hành của mình.” Trong mạch truyện, Duryodhana ví cái chết sắp đến như một cuộc hành trình cô độc sau khi đồng đội ngã xuống, hàm ý một sự đối diện nghiệt ngã với dharma và adharma trong cuộc chiến mà ông cho là đã kết thúc bằng điều phi nghĩa.
