Balarāma’s Pilgrimage Context
तस्मादपि समुत्पत्य सोमलोकमभिप्लुतम् । व्रजन्तमन्वपश्यत् स जैगीषव्यं महामुनिम्,वहाँसे भी ऊपर उठकर महामुनि जैगीषव्य जलमय चन्द्रलोकमें जाते दिखायी दिये
tasmād api samutpatya somalokam abhiplutam | vrajantam anvapaśyat sa jaigīṣavyaṃ mahāmunim ||
Vượt lên cả cõi ấy, ông lại thấy đại hiền giả Jaigīṣavya tiến về cõi Soma (Somaloka), nơi được kể là ngập tràn hay thấm đẫm những dòng nước thiên giới.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights the idea of graded spiritual ascent: through extraordinary tapas and purity, a sage may move beyond one realm to higher celestial spheres, implying that inner discipline and merit shape one’s post-mortem trajectory.
The narrator reports a vision/observation in which the great sage Jaigīṣavya is seen rising further and proceeding toward Somaloka, described as a water-suffused celestial region.
