शल्यस्य सेनापत्याभ्युपगमः | Śalya’s Acceptance of Command
न निवारयितु शक््या: संग्रामात्ते परंतपा:,“इसलिये अब उन शत्रुसंतापी वीरोंको युद्धसे रोका नहीं जा सकता। जबसे द्रौपदीको क्लेश दिया गया, तबसे वह दुःखी हो मेरे विनाशका संकल्प लेकर प्रतिदिन मिट्टीकी वेदीपर सोया करती है। जबतक वैरका पूरा बदला न चुका लिया जाय, तबतकके लिये उसने यह व्रत ले रखा है
na nivārayitu śakyāḥ saṅgrāmāt te paraṃtapāḥ |
Sañjaya nói: “Hỡi kẻ thiêu đốt quân thù, nay không thể ngăn những dũng sĩ ấy khỏi chiến trận nữa. Từ ngày Draupadī bị làm nhục và hành hạ, nàng sống trong sầu khổ, mỗi ngày nằm trên một bàn thờ đất, lòng quyết chí đưa chúng ta đến diệt vong. Nàng đã thọ lời thệ này cho đến khi mối thù được báo trả trọn vẹn.”
