Sarasvatī Tīrtha Itinerary — Balarāma’s Pilgrimage

vaiśampāyana uvāca | tṛtaś cābhyagamat prītaḥ svam eva nilayaṃ tadā | nareśvara munike māṅge hue varake viṣayameṃ “tathāstu” kahakara sab devatā jaise āye the vaise hī cale gaye | punaḥ tṛto ’pi prasannatāpūrvaka apane ghar ko hī lauṭ gaye |

Educational Q&A

The verse highlights dharmic reliability: once a boon is granted with “tathāstu,” the giver—human or divine—stands by that assent and departs without duplicity, emphasizing truthfulness and the sanctity of one’s word.

After the sage’s requested boon is affirmed by the gods with “tathāstu,” the gods leave as they came; then Tṛta, satisfied, also returns to his own home, marking a calm closure to the episode.
