Transliteration

sañjaya uvāca | tasmin vilulite sainye vadhyamāne parasparam | dravamāṇeṣu yodheṣu vinadatsu ca dantiṣu ||

Translation

Sañjaya thưa: Ôi Đại vương, trong trận đại chiến ấy, khi hai đạo quân rối loạn và, đánh giết lẫn nhau, đang bị tàn sát qua lại—khi các chiến sĩ bắt đầu tháo chạy và voi gầm rống—thì chiến địa trở thành cảnh tượng kinh hoàng và hủy diệt. Câu kệ đặt chiến tranh như một bạo lực tự nuốt lấy mình: nỗi sợ lan ra, trật tự sụp đổ, và sự tàn phá sinh mạng hữu hình tăng tốc, buộc người nghe đối diện cái giá đạo lý của chiến thắng được tìm bằng đồ sát.
