Aśvatthāman’s Curse, Parikṣit’s Future, and the Mani’s Restitution
उक्तवत्यसि तीव्राणि वाक््यानि पुरुषोत्तमम् । क्षत्रधर्मानुरूपाणि तानि संस्मर्तुमहसि,“जब राजा युधिष्छिर शान्तिके लिये संधि कर लेना चाहते थे, उस समय तुमने पुरुषोत्तम श्रीकृष्णसे बड़े कठोर वचन कहे थे--“गोविन्द! (मेरे अपमानको भुलाकर शत्रुओंके साथ संधि की जा रही है, इसलिये मैं समझती हूँ कि) न मेरे पति हैं, न पुत्र हैं, न भाई हैं और न तुम्हीं हो'। क्षत्रियरर्मके अनुसार कहे गये उन वचनोंको तुम्हें आज स्मरण करना चाहिये
ukta-vaty asi tīvrāṇi vākyāni puruṣottamam | kṣatra-dharmānurūpāṇi tāni saṁsmartum arhasi ||
Vaiśampāyana nói: “Nàng đã từng nói những lời gay gắt với Puruṣottama (Śrī Kṛṣṇa). Những lời ấy hợp với kṣatriya-dharma; nay nàng nên nhớ lại.”
वैशम्पायन उवाच
Speech made in the name of dharma and honor carries moral weight; one must remember and take responsibility for earlier declarations—especially when decisions about peace, war, and justice are being judged by their outcomes.
Vaiśampāyana reminds the addressed person (in context, a grieving, indignant voice from the Pāṇḍava side) that she had once rebuked Kṛṣṇa harshly when Yudhiṣṭhira pursued a peace settlement; now, amid the grim aftermath of conflict, those kṣatriya-code words are invoked as a pointed recollection.
