Aśvatthāman’s Curse, Parikṣit’s Future, and the Mani’s Restitution
परिक्षिन्नाम नृपतिर्मिषतस्ते सुदुर्मते । दुर्मते! इसके बाद तेरे देखते-देखते महाबाहु कुरुराज परीक्षित् ही इस भूमण्डलका सम्राट् होगा
parikṣinnāma nṛpatir miṣatas te sudurmate | durmate! iṣke bāda tere dekhate-dekhate mahābāhu kururāja parīkṣit hi asya bhūmaṇḍalasya samrāṭ bhaviṣyati ||
Vaiśampāyana nói: «Một vị vua tên Parīkṣit sẽ xuất hiện—ngay khi ngươi, hỡi kẻ lầm lạc tột cùng, bất lực nhìn theo. Phải, ngay trước mắt ngươi, hoàng tử Kuru tay mạnh Parīkṣit sẽ trở thành bậc chí tôn của toàn cõi đất này.»
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse underscores moral causality and the endurance of rightful order: despite the schemes of the misguided, dharmic succession and legitimate kingship will prevail, and the Kuru line will be restored through Parīkṣit.
Vaiśampāyana delivers a pointed declaration/foreshadowing: even as the addressed wrongdoer watches, Parīkṣit—described as a mighty-armed Kuru prince—will become the emperor of the whole earth.
