अध्याय १ — न्यग्रोधवनोपवेशनम् तथा द्रौणिनिश्चयः

दिशं प्राचीं समाश्रित्य हृष्टानां गच्छतां भृशम्‌ । रथनेमिस्वनाश्रैव श्रूयन्ते लोमहर्षणा:,/हर्षमें भरकर पूर्व दिशाकी ओर वेगपूर्वक जाते हुए पाण्डव-योद्धाओंके रथोंके पहियोंके ये रोमांचकारी शब्द कानोंमें पड़ रहे हैं

diśaṁ prācīṁ samāśritya hṛṣṭānāṁ gacchatāṁ bhṛśam | rathanemisvanāś caiva śrūyante lomaharṣaṇāḥ ||

Sañjaya nói: “Quay về phương Đông, các dũng sĩ Pāṇḍava, lòng tràn hân hoan và lao đi với tốc độ dữ dội, khiến người ta nghe rõ những âm thanh rợn ngợp của bánh xe chiến xa họ.”
