Nārada’s Examination of Royal Ethics
वैशम्पायनजी कहते हैं-जनमेजय! कुरुश्रेष्ठ महात्मा राजा युधिष्ठिरने ब्रह्माके पुत्रोंमें श्रेष्ठ नारदजीका यह वचन सुनकर उनके दोनों चरणोंमें प्रणाम एवं अभिवादन किया और अत्यन्त संतुष्ट हो देवस्वरूप नारदजीसे कहा ।। युधिछिर उवाच एवं करिष्यामि यथा त्वयोक्तं प्रज्ञा हि मे भूय एवाभिवृद्धा । उक्त्वा तथा चैव चकार राजा लेभे महीं सागरमेखलां च,युधिछिर बोले-देवर्षे! आपने जैसा उपदेश दिया है, वैसा ही करूँगा। आपके इस प्रवचनसे मेरी प्रज्ञा और भी बढ़ गयी है। ऐसा कहकर राजा युधिष्ठिरने वैला ही आचरण किया और इसीसे समुद्रपर्यन्त पृथ्वीका राज्य पा लिया
yudhiṣṭhira uvāca | evaṃ kariṣyāmi yathā tvayoktaṃ prajñā hi me bhūya evābhivṛddhā | uktvā tathā caiva cakāra rājā lebhe mahīṃ sāgaramekhalāṃ ca ||
Yudhiṣṭhira thưa: “Bạch đấng thiên hiền, con sẽ làm đúng như lời ngài dạy. Quả thật, nhờ lời giảng của ngài mà trí tuệ con càng thêm tăng trưởng.” Nói vậy rồi, nhà vua thực hành y như thế; và chính nhờ hạnh ấy, ngài đạt được quyền bá chủ trên cõi đất được biển cả bao quanh.
