Rājasūya-sambhāra: Prosperity under Rājadharma and the Initiation of Yudhiṣṭhira’s Sacrifice

evaṁ bahuvidhān deśān vijigye bharatarṣabhaḥ | bhallāṭam abhito jigye śuktimantaṁ ca parvatam ||

Vaiśampāyana nói: Thế rồi, Bhīmasena—bậc trượng phu kiệt xuất trong dòng Bharata—đã chinh phục nhiều miền đất khác nhau. Chàng còn khuất phục các vùng quanh Bhallāṭa và đặt ngọn núi mang tên Śuktimān dưới quyền mình.

Educational Q&A

The verse reflects a strand of rājadharma: a ruler’s party expands and secures territory to establish recognized sovereignty and stability. Conquest here functions as statecraft within an accepted political order, not as private vengeance.

During the Pāṇḍavas’ campaigns associated with consolidating power, Bhīmasena is described as conquering many regions, including areas around Bhallāṭa and the mountain Śuktimān.
