Educational Q&A

Power and political consolidation should be pursued through dharmic means: respect, persuasion, and voluntary consent rather than coercion—especially when dealing with elders and allies.

In the context of establishing Yudhiṣṭhira’s paramountcy for the Rājasūya, Arjuna urges that the royal tribute be offered to Yudhiṣṭhira, but he carefully avoids issuing an order, appealing instead to goodwill and prior bonds of friendship.
