Educational Q&A

Kṛṣṇa emphasizes necessity: certain dharmic-political goals (like a fully valid Rājasūya) require specific prerequisite actions; one cannot expect complete success while avoiding the required means.

In the context of planning Yudhiṣṭhira’s Rājasūya, Kṛṣṇa advises that the enterprise cannot be completed ‘otherwise’; the sacrifice’s full completion depends on following the necessary course of action laid down for such a royal rite.
