अध्याय ६० — कर्णस्य पाञ्चाल-सोमक-निग्रहः
Karna’s Suppression of the Panchala–Somaka Forces
युधामन्युं महेष्वासं गौतमो5भ्यपतद्रणे । कृतवर्मा च बलवानुत्तमौजसमाद्रवत्
yudhāmanyuṁ maheṣvāsaṁ gautamo 'bhyapatad raṇe | kṛtavarmā ca balavān uttamaujasaṁ ādravat ||
Sañjaya nói: Giữa cơn giao chiến, Gautama lao thẳng vào Yudhāmanyu—đại cung thủ; còn Kṛtavarmā hùng mạnh thì xông tới Uttamaujā. Thế là các chiến binh tìm đến những đối thủ xứng tầm, thúc cuộc chiến tiến lên bằng những lời thách đấu trực diện chứ không hề thoái lui—một hình ảnh về đà cuồn cuộn không dứt của Kurukṣetra, nơi khủng hoảng đạo lý và võ công cùng bùng cháy.
