Karṇa’s Pressure on the Pāñcālas; Duryodhana Disabled; Arjuna’s Counter-Advance
उच्छिष्टदर्पित: काको बहूनां दूरपातिनाम् । तेषां यं प्रवरं मेने हंसानां दूरपातिनाम्
ucchiṣṭadarpitaḥ kāko bahūnāṁ dūrapātinām | teṣāṁ yaṁ pravaraṁ mene haṁsānāṁ dūrapātinām ||
Sañjaya nói: Con quạ, phồng ngực kiêu căng vì đã ăn đồ thừa, lẫn vào giữa muôn chim có thể bay xa. Trong bọn ấy, nó tự cho mình là bậc nhất—ngỡ rằng ngang hàng, thậm chí hơn cả những thiên nga trường phi. Câu kệ nêu một lời răn sắc lạnh: chút lợi nhỏ và sự tự tin vay mượn dễ sinh ngạo mạn; còn sự xuất chúng chân thật được đo bằng năng lực vốn có và kỷ luật, không phải bởi lợi lộc nhất thời.
