Adhyāya 31
यथा शल्य विजानीषे एवमेतदसंशयम् । अभिप्रायस्तु मे कश्चित् तं निबोध जनेश्वर
yathā śalya vijānīṣe evam etad asaṁśayam | abhiprāyas tu me kaścit taṁ nibodha janeśvara ||
Sañjaya tâu: “Tâu vua Śalya, đúng như ngài tự hiểu về mình—điều ấy không hề có chút nghi ngờ. Nhưng ta còn có một ý định khác; xin hãy lắng nghe cho kỹ, hỡi bậc chúa tể loài người.”
संजय उवाच
The verse highlights careful discernment in counsel: even when another’s understanding is correct, a speaker may carry a further purpose. Ethical communication involves clarifying intention and inviting attentive listening before judgment.
Sañjaya addresses King Śalya, affirming that Śalya’s understanding is correct and beyond doubt, but signals that he has an additional, distinct intention to convey, urging Śalya to listen closely.
