द्रोण–सात्यकि द्वैरथम्
Droṇa and Sātyaki: The Chariot Duel
तानन्हायाधिगच्छेयं न चेद्धन्यां जयद्रथम् । माता-पिताकी हत्या करनेवालोंको जो लोक प्राप्त होते हैं
arjuna uvāca | tān aham āyādhigaccheyaṁ na ced dhanyāṁ jayadratham |
Arjuna nói: “Nếu ngày mai ta không giết Jayadratha, thì nguyện ta lập tức rơi vào chính những cõi ấy—những cõi dành cho kẻ sát hại cha mẹ, kẻ xâm phạm vợ thầy, kẻ hay mách lẻo vu cáo; kẻ chê bai người hiền và bôi nhọ kẻ khác; kẻ chiếm đoạt vật ký thác và phản bội lòng tin; kẻ nhận lấy người đàn bà đã thuộc về kẻ khác, kẻ nói lời tội lỗi; kẻ sát hại Bà-la-môn và kẻ giết bò; cùng cả những kẻ ăn cơm sữa, cháo lúa mạch, rau, khichdi, halva, pua và các món khác mà không cúng Bali–Vaiśvadeva trước.” Trong cơn nóng của chiến trận và nỗi đau, Arjuna tự trói mình bằng một lời thệ nguyện khủng khiếp: nếu không trừng phạt kẻ bị xem là nguyên nhân cái chết của Abhimanyu, chàng chấp nhận cùng hậu quả đạo đức và tâm linh như những kẻ phạm điều bị dharma lên án nặng nề nhất.
