तस्मिन्‌ हते महामात्रे पज्चालानां महारथे । अपायाज्जवनैरश्रैद्रोणात्‌ त्रस्तो युधिष्ठिर:

Transliteration

tasmin hate mahāmātre pāñcālānāṁ mahārathe | apāyāj javanair astrair droṇāt trasto yudhiṣṭhiraḥ ||

Translation

Sañjaya nói: Khi vị đại tướng—đại xa chiến binh của người Pāñcāla—đã bị giết, Yudhiṣṭhira run sợ mà rút lui khỏi Droṇa, trong lúc vị đạo sư ấy thúc ép ông bằng những vũ khí bay nhanh như gió. Khoảnh khắc ấy cho thấy ngay cả vị vua chính trực, vốn gắn với sự tiết chế, cũng bị đà tàn khốc của chiến tranh buộc phải thoái lui trước sức mạnh võ nghệ vượt trội.
