यत्र युध्यामहे सर्वे धनलो भात्‌ समागता: । हमें धनसे या धन पानेकी इच्छासे क्‍या प्रयोजन है? जो हम सब लोग यहाँ धनके लोभसे एकत्र होकर जूझ रहे हैं

Transliteration

yatra yudhyāmahe sarve dhanalobhāt samāgatāḥ |

Translation

Duryodhana nói: “Ở đây, tất cả chúng ta đang giao chiến, tụ họp lại vì lòng tham của cải.” Trong mạch văn, câu ấy phơi bày sự mục ruỗng đạo lý của cuộc chiến: chiến tranh không còn được đặt như bổn phận chính đáng, mà như một cuộc tranh đoạt bị thúc đẩy bởi dục vọng tài vật, ngầm đặt vấn đề về tính chính danh của động cơ ấy.
