Śaineya’s Breakthrough and Reunion with Arjuna (शैनेयस्य समागमः)

Educational Q&A

The verse highlights how swift, resolute action by capable warriors can shatter the confidence of an opposing side. Ethically, it contrasts inner steadiness and righteous resolve with the anxiety that arises when one’s cause depends mainly on power and numbers.

Sañjaya reports to Dhṛtarāṣṭra that Arjuna and Sātyaki, described as unconquered heroes, have quickly broken through Droṇa’s battle formation. He infers that this sight plunged the Kauravas (Dhṛtarāṣṭra’s sons) into grief and alarm.
