भीष्मस्य मध्याह्नयुद्धवर्णनम् / Mid-day Battle Description: Bhīṣma Engaged by the Pāñcālas
कुरूणां पाण्डवानां च क्षयं घोरं॑ महामति: । स ततो निवारितवान् धृतराष्ट्रं जनेश्वरम्,“कौरवों और पाण्डवोंका यह भयंकर विनाश परम बुद्धिमान् विदुरकी दृष्टिमें पहले ही आ गया था। इसलिये उन्होंने राजा धृतराष्ट्रको मना किया था
kurūṇāṃ pāṇḍavānāṃ ca kṣayaṃ ghoraṃ mahāmatiḥ | sa tato nivāritavān dhṛtarāṣṭraṃ janeśvaram ||
Sañjaya nói: Sự diệt vong ghê rợn của cả hai phe Kuru và Pāṇḍava đã sớm hiện rõ trong tầm nhìn của bậc đại trí (Vidura). Vì thế, ông đã cố ngăn vua Dhṛtarāṣṭra—chúa tể của muôn dân—khỏi con đường dẫn đến tai ương ấy.
