तैः सम्प्रयुक्तै: स महारथाग्र्यै- गज्भासुत: समरे चित्रयोधी । न विव्यथे शान्तनवो महात्मा समागतै: पाण्डुसुतै: समस्तै:
taiḥ samprayuktaiḥ sa mahārathāgryaiḥ gaṅgābhāsutaḥ samare citrayodhī | na vivyathe śāntanavo mahātmā samāgataiḥ pāṇḍusutaiḥ samastaiḥ ||
Sañjaya nói: Dẫu những bậc đại xa chiến hàng đầu—các con của Pāṇḍu—đã hợp lực kéo đến và giao chiến với ông, Bhīṣma đại hồn, con của Śāntanu, sinh bởi dòng Gaṅgā, một chiến sĩ kỳ tuyệt nơi trận mạc, vẫn không hề nao núng hay ưu phiền. Câu kệ tôn vinh sự kiên định và ý chí kỷ luật giữa thế vây ép, sự điềm tĩnh của người chiến binh đặt nền trên bổn phận chứ không trên nỗi sợ.
