क्षुभ्यमाणे बले तूर्ण सागरप्रतिमे तव । प्रत्युद्याते च गाड़ेये त्वरितं विजयं प्रति,आपकी समुद्र-जैसी विशाल वाहिनीमें तुरंत ही हलचल मच गयी। उस समय गंगानन्दन भीष्मने शीघ्रतापूर्वक अर्जुनपर आक्रमण किया

kṣubhyamāṇe bale tūrṇaṃ sāgarapratime tava |
pratyudyāte ca gāḍheye tvaritaṃ vijayaṃ prati ||
Sañjaya nói: Khi đạo quân của bệ hạ—mênh mông như biển—bỗng chốc náo loạn, và đợt xung kích dữ dội được nhập cuộc, Bhīṣma, con của sông Gaṅgā, liền lao tới thật nhanh, hướng về chiến thắng, và mở cuộc tấn công vào Arjuna.
