भीमसेन-दुर्योधन-समागमः
Bhīmasena–Duryodhana Engagement at Sunset
भरतनन्दन! तदनन्तर एक तीखे और पानीदार भल्ल्लसे उन्होंने भीमसेनके धनुषके दो टुकड़े कर दिये ।। (अपास्य तु धनुश्छिन्नं भीमसेनो महाबल: । शरैबहुभिरानर्च्छद् भीष्मं शान्तनवं युधि ।) महाबली भीमसेनने उस कटे हुए धनुषको फेंककर दूसरा धनुष ले बहुत-से बाणोंद्वारा युद्धस्थलमें शान्तनुनन्दन भीष्मको अत्यन्त पीड़ा दी। सात्यकिस्तु ततस्तूर्ण भीष्ममासाद्य संयुगे | आकर्णप्रहितैस्ती#णैर्निशितैस्तिग्मतेजनै:
sañjaya uvāca |
āpāsya tu dhanuś chinnaṃ bhīmaseno mahābalaḥ |
śaraiḥ bahubhir ānarcched bhīṣmaṃ śāntanavaṃ yudhi |
sātyakis tu tatas tūrṇaṃ bhīṣmam āsādya saṃyuge |
ākarṇaprahitaiḥ tīṣṇair niśitaiḥ tigmatejanaiḥ ||
Sañjaya nói: Hỡi hậu duệ Bharata! Sau đó, với một mũi bhalla khác sắc bén và ánh thép rực lên, Bhīṣma chém đôi cây cung của Bhīmasena. Bhīmasena đại lực liền quăng bỏ cây cung đã bị chặt, cầm lấy một cây cung khác và trên chiến địa đã bắn dồn dập vô số mũi tên vào Bhīṣma, con của Śāntanu, khiến ông đau đớn dữ dội. Rồi Sātyaki lập tức xông tới Bhīṣma giữa trận, bắn những mũi tên nhọn, kéo dây đến tận tai, lấp lánh sức bén lạnh lùng.
