आत्मदोष-उपदेशः तथा भीम-धृष्टद्युम्नयोः संयोगः

युयुत्सवस्ते विक्रान्ता विजयाय महाबला: । अन्योन्यमभिगर्जनन्तो गोष्ठेष्विव महर्षभा:,जैसे बड़े-बड़े साँड़ गोशालाओंमें गरजते हुए एक-दूसरेसे भिड़ जाते हैं, उसी प्रकार पराक्रमी और महाबली सैनिक विजयके लिये युद्धकी इच्छा रखकर गरजते हुए एक- दूसरेके सामने आये

yuyutsavas te vikrāntā vijayāya mahābalāḥ | anyonyam abhigarjananto goṣṭheṣv iva maharṣabhāḥ ||

Sañjaya nói: Khát khao giao chiến, những chiến sĩ dũng mãnh và đầy uy lực ấy tiến lên vì chiến thắng, gầm thét vào nhau như những con bò mộng lớn rống vang trong chuồng, rồi lao tới để va chạm. Cảnh tượng cho thấy cơn thèm khát thắng lợi thổi bùng kiêu hãnh võ sĩ, đẩy con người vào đối đầu trước khi sự phán xét đạo lý về hậu quả chiến tranh kịp mở ra.
