गौरुडव्यूह-रचना तथा अर्धचन्द्र-प्रत्यव्यूह

अपतत्‌ सहसा राजन्‌ महोल्केव नभस्तलात्‌

apatat sahasā rājan maholkeva nabhastalāt | aṣṭabhir navabhir bhīṣmaḥ śaktiṃ ciccheda patribhiḥ ||

Sañjaya nói: “Tâu Đại vương, ngọn lao ấy bất thần rơi từ trời xuống như một thiên thạch lớn. Thấy nó bừng cháy giữa không trung, như bị lửa vây quanh, phụ vương ngài là Devavrata (Bhīṣma) không hề nao núng; với tám hoặc chín mũi tên, ông chém vũ khí ấy thành từng mảnh.”
