Chapter 47: Krauñca-vyūha Deployment and Conch-Signals
Kaurava–Pāṇḍava Readiness
Yudhiṣṭhira uvāca: mantrayāsva mahārāja nityaṁ mad-hitam uttamam | kāmaṁ yudhyasva parasyārthe varam etaṁ vṛṇomy aham ||
Yudhiṣṭhira nói: “Hỡi đại vương, xin hãy mỗi ngày chỉ dạy ta điều tối thiện cho lợi ích của ta. Và nếu ngài muốn, hãy chiến đấu vì lợi ích của kẻ khác; đó là ân huệ ta xin chọn.”
युधिछिर उवाच
Yudhiṣṭhira values righteous guidance over personal gain: the highest boon is steady, excellent counsel aimed at welfare (hita). Even in a war setting, the verse foregrounds ethical deliberation and responsibility rather than mere victory.
Yudhiṣṭhira addresses a ‘great king’ and requests a boon: that he be given daily, superior advice for his good. He adds that the king may fight as he wishes for another’s cause—highlighting Yudhiṣṭhira’s preference for guidance and principled conduct amid the pressures of conflict.
