Mokṣa–Saṃnyāsa–Tyāga–Guṇa-Vibhāga (Renunciation, Relinquishment, and the Three Guṇas) — Mahābhārata 6, Bhīṣma-parva

सम्बन्ध-- शरीरमें स्थित होनेपर भी आत्मा क्‍यों नहीं लिप्त होता? इसपर कहते हैं-- यथा सर्वगतं सौक्ष्म्यादाकाशं नोपलिप्यते । सर्वत्रावस्थितो देहे तथा55त्मा नोपलिप्यते

arjuna uvāca — yathā sarvagataṃ saukṣmyād ākāśaṃ nopalipyate | sarvatrāvasthito dehe tathātmā nopalipyate ||

Như hư không, tuy trùm khắp, vẫn không bị nhiễm vì tính vi tế của nó; cũng vậy, Tự Ngã—dù hiện diện khắp trong thân—không bị vấy bẩn bởi các điều kiện hay hành vi của thân. Ý nghĩa đạo đức là: sự thanh tịnh nội tâm và trách nhiệm được đặt trên việc nhận ra Tự Ngã là bất nhiễm, còn hành động và hệ quả thuộc về tự nhiên hữu thân.
