Sainyavinyāsa–Lakṣaṇa (Disposition of Armies and Battlefield Omens) | सैन्यविन्यास–लक्षणम्
संव्यूह् मानुषं व्यूहं दैवं गान्धर्वमासुरम् दिवसे दिवसे प्राप्ते भीष्म: शान्तनवोडग्रणी:
saṃvyūhya mānuṣaṃ vyūhaṃ daivaṃ gāndharvam āsuram | divase divase prāpte bhīṣmaḥ śāntanavo 'grāṇīḥ ||
Sañjaya nói: Mỗi khi một ngày mới đến, Bhīṣma—con của Śāntanu, bậc đứng đầu trong hàng thống soái—lại lần lượt bày binh bố trận cho quân Kaurava theo các thế trận: nhân giới, thiên giới, gandharva và asura. Vì thế ông đứng nơi tiền quân, định ra mưu lược của ngày ấy, khiến chiến cuộc mang dấu ấn của kỷ luật nghiêm minh và uy lực võ trận áp đảo.
