Educational Q&A

The verse highlights the ethical weight of truthful witnessing: the king will receive an unhidden account of the war through Sañjaya, implying that rulers cannot evade responsibility by claiming ignorance of events carried out in their name.

Vaiśampāyana explains that Sañjaya will report the war to the king (Dhṛtarāṣṭra) and that nothing occurring across the battlefield will be beyond Sañjaya’s direct knowledge, setting up Sañjaya’s role as the immediate narrator of the Kurukṣetra events.
