उत्तरायणमन्विच्छन् भीष्म: कुरुपितामह: । तस्य तन्मतमाज्ञाय गंगा हिमवतः सुता
uttarāyaṇam anvicchan bhīṣmaḥ kurupitāmahaḥ | tasya tanmatam ājñāya gaṅgā himavataḥ sutā
Sañjaya nói: “Bhīṣma, vị tổ phụ của nhà Kuru, hướng lòng tìm đến hành trình phương Bắc của mặt trời (uttarāyaṇa) và chuyên tâm chờ đợi thời khắc ấy. Hiểu rõ ý nguyện đó, Gaṅgā—ái nữ của Himavat—đã đáp lại tương xứng.”
