नासज्जन्त तनुत्रेषु भीष्मचापच्युता: शरा: । हतवीरान्‌ रथात्‌ राजन्‌ संयुक्ताञ्जवनैर्हयै:

Transliteration

sañjaya uvāca

nāsajjanta tanutreṣu bhīṣma-cāpa-cyutāḥ śarāḥ | hatavīrān rathāt rājan saṃyuktān javanair hayaiḥ ||

Translation

Sañjaya nói: Tâu Đại vương, những mũi tên phóng ra từ cung Bhīṣma không mắc lại nơi áo giáp của các chiến binh; trái lại, chúng đánh với sức mạnh đến mức giết gục các dũng tướng, rồi làm những chiến xa—được kéo bởi đàn ngựa phi nhanh—đổ nhào. Cảnh ấy cho thấy đà khốc liệt của chiến trận, nơi tài lực và số mệnh hợp lại để tước đi sự an toàn ngay cả của kẻ được che chở kỹ càng.
