भीमसेनस्य बहुमहारथसंयुगः

Bhīmasena’s Engagement with Multiple Mahārathas

मुण्डतालवनानीव चकार स रथव्रजान्‌ । निर्मनुष्यान्‌ रथान्‌ राजन्‌ गजाननश्चांश्व संयुगे

sañjaya uvāca

muṇḍatālavanānīva cakāra sa rathavrajān |

nirmanuṣyān rathān rājan gajān aśvāṁś ca saṁyuge ||

Sañjaya nói: Tâu Đại vương, giữa cơn giao chiến, ông đã biến đoàn xe chiến dày đặc thành cảnh tượng như một lùm cây thốt nốt bị chặt cụt ngọn—để lại những cỗ xe không người; và trong trận ấy, voi ngựa cũng bị quật ngã. Câu kệ nhấn mạnh hiệu năng lạnh lùng của chiến tranh: tài nghệ được ca tụng nơi võ công rốt cuộc chỉ là sự tước đoạt mau lẹ sinh mạng và quyền chủ động khỏi khí cụ lẫn kẻ tham chiến.
