Uttanka’s Viśvarūpa Request and the ‘Uttanka Clouds’ Boon
The verse links ethical order (Dharma) to a divine lineage, presenting Dharma as an originating, authoritative principle—so fundamental that it is described as Vāyu’s firstborn. It also underscores the reverence accorded to cosmic craftsmanship and order through the continual praise of Viśvakarmā.
Vāyu is speaking to a revered brāhmaṇa, stating that Viśvakarmā is constantly praised and then identifying Dharma as his own son and firstborn—clarifying divine relationships and establishing Dharma’s primacy within the discourse.
