व्यास उवाच
Even beings of a single lineage can fall into rivalry; therefore dharma is needed to regulate competition and prevent kinship from turning into destructive conflict.
Vyāsa explains that Dakṣa, the progenitor, had many children identified as Devas and Asuras, and that these groups were mutually competitive—setting the background for later tensions and events.
