वर्णतो गुणतश्चैव योनितश्वैव तत्त्वतः । सर्वमेतत्तमो विप्रा: कीर्तितं वो यथाविधि,विप्रवरो! वर्ण, गुण, योनि और तत्त्वके अनुसार मैंने आपसे तमोगुणका पूरा-पूरा यथावत् वर्णन किया
varṇato guṇataś caiva yonitaś caiva tattvataḥ | sarvam etat tamo viprāḥ kīrtitaṃ vo yathāvidhi ||
Thần Vāyu nói: “Hỡi các brāhmaṇa, ta nay đã trình bày cho các ngươi—đúng phép và theo thứ tự—đầy đủ về tamas, phân theo varṇa (giai tầng), theo guṇa (phẩm tính), theo yoni (nguồn sinh/loài sinh), và theo tattva (thực tánh) của nó.”
